Learn more about our FINCA CAN CAP DE BOU

Our establishment

CAN CAP DE BOU FARM is located in the northwest of the island of Majorca, in the centre of Pollença Bay. This is a nature area of special interest ("A.N.E.I.") because of its flora and fauna. CAN CAP DE BOU FARM has belonged to the family that owns it for over two hundred years. The property has been put to a variety of uses over the years, but these have always been very closely related to cattle farming, because of the excellent grasslands which made up the Prat area. The old buildings, built of stone in 1700 and opened to the public in 1989, were refurbished in the year 2000 to form separate units. These houses are grouped around an oasis-like palm grove, where the pond has become a swimming pool and the cow corral has been turned into a barbecue. With its 34 hectares of land and a built-up area of 450 sq m, it is the ideal place for families with children.

Useful tourist information

The farm is located in a nature area of special interest because of its flora and fauna, and is the ideal place for bird lovers. More than a hundred different types of birds inhabit the area. Sixty of these types are exclusive to swampy habitats, such as the mallard, purple heron, little bittern, black-winged stilt, coot, moorhen, etc. Others come from colder zones and only winter there. Birds of prey are an important link in the food chain of this ecosystem, where the osprey, marsh harrier and Eleonora's falcon come to feed.

Visitors can go for wonderful walks through the town of Pollença, for example, to the (King's Castle), the Puig Roig mountain in Ternellas, Puig Tomir mountain, and to many other places.

For those who love culture, Pollença has many cultural activities year-round, but especially in summer. Classical music lovers can attend the famous International Music Festival during the months of July and August.

During the Middle Ages, the old hamlet of Alcudia, near the farm, was fortified for strategic reasons so it could defend itself from the constant attacks by the Saracens. This walled enclosure was a refuge for the nobility during the Germanic wars.

The victory by Charles I's Royal Forces in the battle of Cap de Bou beach in 1525 made this defensive bastion the Very Noble and Loyal City of Alcudia.
